What Chris Has To Say: Now that I’m officially done crying over the recent update, I can rec this properly. So, when I say that I don’t read WIP’s, I mean it. But this, this is one WIP that I patiently waited for every installment and even if it broke me, I still squeed over it, because it is perfect. But seriously, sit down, read this, and I promise, you’ll thank me for it later.
TITLE: “Carry On Up This Broken Tide”
PAIRINGS: Dean/Castiel, mentions of Dean/Lisa and Sam/Jess
WARNINGS: AU, depictions of psychological illness (ie. nervous breakdowns, anxiety), dubcon, mild D/s themes, infidelity, mentions of drug use and past drug abuse.
SUMMARY: The small, California town of Cardiff-by-the-Sea attracts millions of surfers a year, ranging from amateurs to world-class professionals. Although tourists constantly populate the area, Sam Campbell—née Winchester—renowned author of supernatural suspense novels and surf enthusiast, has called Cardiff home ever since the violent death of his girlfriend, Jessica. When he meets Castiel Novak, an enigmatic newcomer with a mysterious past, the two strike up an easy friendship that revolves around surfing and their mutual need for privacy from the outside world. The arrival of Sam’s brother, Dean, following a messy divorce under hazy circumstances, promises to complete their little circle of misfits and social pariahs. Sam thinks that life for once can’t get any better, surrounded by the people he trusts most in the world. Much to his dismay, it quickly becomes obvious that there is no love lost between Dean and Cas, though Sam can’t begin to guess why. As time progresses, he begins to get the feeling that the two of them know each other from somewhere else, and that their past might have everything to do with why they chose to escape to Cardiff in the first place. As soon as I saw this was back up in PDF format I had to rec it here. This is on the same level as 300 things and one of my favourite fics ever. Especially for a certain scene in Sam’s kitchen. ;)
Camp switch fic and every intimate scene is just juicy. And Cas is just such a tease making Dean work for his love. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one! The characterizations are amazing!
Even better is the art accompanying it by the great Daggomusprime!
Small note: It’s only in PDF format right now as the writer is working on editing it.
Title: Our bodies, possessed by light
Word Count: ~42,000
Summary: Purged of all his souls, Castiel is a changed being, stronger than an angel and too powerful for Jimmy’s body to contain. Happily, there’s an archangel’s vessel on hand, and he could use fixing, too. Dean isn’t too happy about the idea of his brother acting as a vessel for Castiel, and Sam can guess why, but it isn’t until Castiel gets inside his head and they learn to share the vessel — and their thoughts — that Sam realises Cas is as in love with Dean as Dean is with him. It’s unfortunate that there’s nothing much to be done about it now, but Castiel will get another vessel soon. The Winchesters will make damn sure of that. In the meantime, it’s up to the three of them to establish their own strange accord, and Dean realises more fully than ever that it’s Castiel, and not his vessel, that he loves.
Warnings/Promises: This fic does contain character death (non-pairing). It does not contain Sam/Dean, Sam/Castiel, or Sam/Dean/Castiel. There is no oral-genital or genital-genital contact between Dean and Sam’s body; there is no making out. However, please note that there is one scene depicting a mild sexual situation between Dean and Cas-in-Sam’s body.
What Chris Has to Say: First let me say, that I was always going to rec this, cause everything Obstinatrix writes is beautiful and this is no different. I basically just said fuck paying attention in class so that I could read this fic and holy hell, it was worth it. All of the characters are perfectly in character and once again, Sam proves that he will always be one of the best things about Destiel fics. This goes alongside 300 Things as one of those must reads for any Destiel shipper.
Summary:Dean’s life at twenty-four makes him feel like he’s forty—he works two jobs to help pay bills for his house and put his genius little brother through private school, and has spent six years (on and off, let’s be honest) working on his mechanical engineering degree at KU. With so much of his life devoted to his family, Dean has little time in his schedule for class and no time for social interaction. Then, while getting his classes together for the fall, he finds himself in a do-or-die situation: He must take his last literature class now, his spring already filled with those left for his major…except that none of the English classes will fit his schedule.
This is how Dean grovels and begs Dr. Castiel Milton to make a special arrangement for him, and Dr. Milton does.
What Chris Has to Say: If want to see me cry, watch me while I read this fic. Then bottle up my tears and go use them to cure cancer or something, they’re rare enough that they probably could. But seriously, if you haven’t read this fic yet, look at your life, look at your choices, but only after you actually read this freaking fic!
Author name: lady_deathangel

Summary: The fate of the world has been decided and two human vessels are the key to the final battle that will trigger the apocalypse. Not content to leave anything up to destiny, Heaven takes matters into its own hands. But a simple assassination is complicated by the interference of one of their own, leaving the future in limbo and the angel Castiel to pay the ultimate price for his actions.
But what should be the end is only the beginning. The angel’s fall from grace crash lands him in the body of a young Jimmy Novak as his soul departs. The process leaves Castiel with no memories of his celestial past; he knows himself only as Jimmy Novak, a sickly child whose overnight recovery is nothing short of miraculous. But as Jimmy’s life starts anew, Dean Winchester’s has all but ended.
It’s under these circumstances that these two boys come together and forge a friendship that slowly develops into something more. But their path was never meant to be easy and fate eventually intercedes, thrusting them both into the roles they were always meant to play: the angel and the hunter. The Righteous Man and his Protector.
What Chris Has to Say: Ok, so, Jesus mother of fuck balls! (and yes, I did just make that up, deal with it) This fic had me captivated from the moment I sat down to read it. It’s long, but soooooo worth it. Everything is in character and I just…a very large part of me wishes that this could’ve been canon, but it’s not and eventually I will come to terms with that. So if you have a day off and need something to read, I highly recommend you sit down and make friends with this fic.
Also, little note, listen to the warning given by the author, they are there for a reason.
